CENTRAL COAST SOARING CLUB
For Gliding on the Central Coast of NSW
TRY GLIDING - IT'S FUN!
OUR FLEET
The CCSC occupies a fleet of well-maintained twin-seat trainer and single-seat aircraft available for members and visitors to fly. We have a fine balance of twin seat high performance, to basic trainer twin, cross country single seater and beginner single seaters to enjoy and fly!
PZL PW-6U
The PW6 glider is easy to fly, advanced twin-seat trainer. The aircraft provides great handling characteristics and is used for ab initio training and also used for cross country training. The PW6 is a great stepping stone for flying single-seat gliders, it is also great for pilots transitioning to the single-seat version of the PW6, the PW5.

PZL KR-03A Puchatek
The robust and reliable PZL KR-03A ''Puchatek'' which translates to ''Pooh Bear'' is CCSC primary basic trainer. This glider has excellent visibility and is very forgiving with it's flying characteristics. The Puchatek will teach you to really master your stick and rudder skills. CCSC currently owns two Puchateks, VH-KRF and VH-GKD.
Note: (Currently our 2 workhorse Puchateks are out for extended Maintenance. Currently, our sleek PW6 and our long term loaned high-performance DG1001M are available for training and Air Experience flights. These 2 aircraft are proving to work very efficiently for students and air experience flight customers and members)

PILATUS B4
The sturdy Pilatus B4. The Pilatus B4 is capable of carrying out advanced aerobatics pulling close to +7G and -4G. The Pilatus is also capable of carrying out basic cross country flying and local soaring. This freshly refurbished Pilatus B4 will be the first single-seater a student will transition into. The Pilatus is owned by a club syndicate of members, "put online" to the club for suitably qualified members to fly.
PW-5 "SMYK"
Light and a joy to fly.
The PW5 glider is very easy to fly and is capable of carrying out silver C, cross country triangle, and local soaring. Like it's big brother the "PW6" the pw5 is very similar in it's handling characteristics which makes the transition from the PW6 to the PW5 very easy. The PW5 can be used for beginner single-seater pilots and beyond. This aircraft is privately owned but is generously put ‘’on line’’ to the club for approved members to fly.

GROB G102 ASTIR CS
A comfortable and stable aircraft. The Grob Astir CS will be the next single-seater a pilot will fly. With retractable undercarriage and a glide ratio of 38:1, the Astir can carry out long-distance cross-country flying, and can be taken away to cross-country competitions by suitably qualified club members. One Astir (now in the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center), flown by Robert Harris, broke the world absolute altitude record at 49,009 ft (14,938 m) on 17 February 1986. Our Astir has recently had extensive repainting, along with fresh wax and a new canopy seal. This makes it great on the eye and very quiet and smooth for your cross-country flying experience!
HK36 Super Dimona
The Super Dimona is what is known as a "Touring Motor Glider". It can be used for glider training, both basic and more advanced cross country training ,as well as providing more advanced training such as access to controlled airspace with suitably qualified instructors.
It has a sinmilar glide performance to the Puchatek two seaters used for training but being much heavier requires stronger thermals to enable it to gain height without the use of the engine.
This is a privately owned glider available for instruction and Air Experience Flights in the club.

DG1001M
The DG1001 is a high-performance twin seat cross-country and basic training glider. With an impressive glide ratio of 46.5 : 1 you will be gliding a very long distance before losing any height in the event there is not much lift around on a given day.
The magnificant DG1001M has recently come online for the club for basic training all the way up to advanced cross country flight training and extended Air experience Flights. The ''M'' stands for 'Motor'. This particular type of DG1000 has a retractable motor which allows you to deploy the engine after our thrilling winch launch to give students and Air experience flights a guaranteed long flight for training or sight-seeing. This particular type of glider is very much a game changer in the way you experience learning to fly and joy flights.
